Hazell Bros Enters Largest City To Casino Team Ever
15/5/2009
Hazell Bros is entering the largest City to Casino team in the 37 year history of the event, to be held Sunday 17 May. The Company has built on last year's record breaking entry, this year entering 179 employees and family members as part of the "Hazell Bros Healthy Beings" health and wellbeing program.
Managing Director Geoffrey Hazell and his family will be participating on Sunday.
"Hazell Bros supports employees to achieve their lifestyle goals, by covering the costs for employees and their families to participate in great events like the City to Casino, and as a family business, we understand how important that is," he said.
"It's always a good day - people from all areas of the business get together to exercise, and when we are all back at work on Monday there is a united atmosphere and a great sense of achievement."
This year, more than 140 employees and family members will be walking in the 7km category, and the remaining participants have chosen to run the 7km and 11km events.
"We are seeing an increased number of participants, especially in the running categories, which we believe is a result of the Company-provided bootcamp and personal training sessions, as well as a strong internal culture" Mr Hazell said.
"Registering a corporate team in the City to Casino also helps to raise funds for the Heart Foundation to fight against cardiovascular disease in Tasmania," he said.
Hazell Bros is also the naming rights sponsor of the Kingston Fun Run, to be held the following weekend.
Hazell Bros is Tasmania's largest Construction Company, employing 500 people statewide. The Company was last year inducted into the Tasmanian Government's Employer of Choice Honour Roll. Current projects include the Brighton Bypass and Transport Hub (in joint venture with John Holland), the Launceston Regional Aquatic Centre, and the Musselroe Windfarm.
