Young Achiever Recognised

17/3/2008

Hazell Bros valued employee Damien Cowen has been announced as a finalist in the Trade and Career Achievement category of the 2008 Young Achiever Awards, which will be presented at an awards ceremony on 12 April.

Damien commenced employment at Hazell Bros in 2000, as a Boilermaker/Welder Apprentice.  Damien's enthusiasm and application to the trade were noted early, and his ability to apply his mechanical aptitude to carry out repairs or construction with excellent results were recognised.

Hazell Bros Director Robert Hazell said that Damien's leadership qualities and communication skills have elevated him to the role of Welding Leading Hand.

"Damien is an asset to the Fleet Maintenance Team, and we are pleased to support and recognise his trade achievements" he said.

Damien said that nominees were assessed on several communication, marketing and management skills, position in the work environment and industry background, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial skills, responsibilities and support, budget and staffing control, and personal development.

"I really enjoy my job and what I do, and to be recognised as a finalist in these awards is a huge bonus for me and my career," he said.
