Shane joins HB
The safety team has made a big welcome to Shane Gregory this week who has started at HB as General Manager SHEQ and HR. Shane’s also responsible for the HB support functions of Training and Marketing.
He’s completed our welcome questionnaire, with a couple of safety questions included, so read on to find out more about Shane.
Why is safety important to you? Everybody should go home in the same condition they came to work – every day. Everybody has a wife/husband, son/daughter, mother/father who cares whether they come home.
Where did you work previously? I started my working life with the Highways Department in South Australia, followed by four years in an engineering consultancy in Western Australia. In Tasmania I worked for the old CCC, spent five years as State Manager for Downer and spent the past three years as Manager of Planning with DIER.
What three new things would you most like to learn in your lifetime? A second language; to play a musical instrument; to cook like a chef.
If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? It would have to be meat – preferably lamb. I just don’t understand vegetarians!
If you had a million dollars, what would you do first? Pay off my recent renovation and then travel.
What is the one thing in your life that you could not live without? My family – after that nothing is indispensable.
What have you done lately that you’re proud of? Survived a major renovation!
Tell us something about you that no-one would ever guess. I like to cook.
What do you like to do on weekends? When I get a spare moment, I like to spend time on my photography.
What’s one safety tip you think everyone should know? Look in the mirror and you will see the only person who can really keep you safe at work.
