Liawenee Canal Upgrade

Related Services Utilised

The $1.1m Liawenee Canal Upgrade comprised of four distinct sites spanning a total of 10 kilometres. The Canal's performance was hindered by its general deteriorated state and isolated obstructions to the water flow.

Works commenced in late January and were completed in late March 2007.  The client's requirements were that Hazell Bros achieve two primary objectives:

  • Reduce the risk of the canal failing
  • Upgrade the canal's capacity such that it could safely pass its maximum design flow

Special considerations included a heritage listed stone wall and several rare and endangered species of flora and fauna.
