Hobart International Airport
Hazell Bros and the newly integrated Bells Constructions and Technologies have completed construction works for Stage 3 of the Hobart International Airport at Cambridge.
This project included the construction of a new baggage handling and security check-in facility within a fully operational airport facility. This facility is now complete with airside pavement extensions, airside communications, relocation of aircraft parking positions, all security system upgrades and full fit.
Scope of Works
- Demolition of existing facilities
- Construction of new check-in hall, incorporating 20 normal baggage check-in stations and one oversize baggage station
- Construction of new offices and training rooms
- Construction of amenities for the management, flight crews and baggage handling staff for the three domestic carriers
- Construction of a new baggage handling and x-ray equipment building
- Building features include high quality finishes involving the extensive use of high ceilings with skylight windows, feature lighting, ceramic tiled floors, timber veneered feature wall panelling and external awning soffit lining, solid Blackwood flooring and column cladding and use of toughened and high strength glass to internal screens, joinery, external awnings, windows and automatic doors
- Air conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems
- Extensive fire protection systems, including electronic smoke detection and alarm systems, hydrants, hose reels, fire doors, fire walls, and fire protective paint and plasterboard to existing steel, including within the confines of the existing ceiling spaces
